SAC & the Inside-OUT Gallery February Artists of the Month:
East Meets West featuring Sneha Shrestha & Peter Murphy
In February, the Somerville Arts Council and the Inside-OUT gallery will be showcasing the work of Sneha Shrestha & Peter McInerny Murphy--two artists from different parts of the world whose work resides on the same plane. Working in tandem, this East meets West exhibits showcases how the design elements of their pieces compliment each other. We hope enjoy.
About the Artists:
Sneha Shrestha is contemporary artist in Boston. Originally from Nepal, but an experienced traveler, Sneha draws her artistic inspiration from sources as varied as Boston graffiti, Turkish calligraphy, and her native Nepali script. Her works can be described as thoughtful yet irreverent pieces, marrying the beauty of an elegant script with the droll text she often incorporates into her canvases. When not painting these intricate pieces, Sneha works with inner city teens at Artists for Humanity. Sneha also enjoys spray painting outdoors when the weather is cooperative. She often signs her work as 'Kalpana', the Nepalese word for 'imagine', a perfect moniker for an artist who cannot help but see the world in a different light, tinted by her own imagination.

Peter McInerny Murphy
Peter McInerny Murphy is from Alabama, but has been living in Somerville for the past six years. While pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, the production of art grew to be his main focus and is what occupies his time today. His influences include Will Bradley, M.C. escher, Klimpt and the many science textbooks he had growing up. He creates art trying to balance structure between geometric designs and flowing patterns.
To see more of his work, visit pm-squared.org or stop by Vernon Street Studios for the upcoming Somerville Open Studios.
