We had a similar problem with a 93 Solectria. It would only go in reverse. After checking the voltages I determined the that the forward contacts were intermittent. Most of the time they would only close briefly. I could twist the knob back a little and make the connection.

To my shock the company that made the switch was still in business. The second shock was the exact switch was still available. And the heart attack was they were willing to sell me a new single unit. It wasn't cheap about $130 landed.

The internet is about the best thing ever you can find anything.

vehicle is not for everybody, given the limited range
it can only meet the needs of 90% of the population."

My 97 Solectria Force has the multi-position switch on the console for reverse and three forward modes. Every day or two I have to flip the switch rapidly back and forth to go anywhere. Obviously the electrical contacts need cleaning. Does anyone know if this switch is serviceable? In other words, can it be opened up to use electrical cleaner on the contacts? Or is it a sealed unit? I didn't want to tear the console all apart just to find out I can't clean it. Thanks
