      The last time I talked with Firefly they were planning on introducing an EV battery but they saw an opportunity with the truck battery and went for it. In the long run it might be better to put out a battery for which there is an existing market than to try and put out a battery aimed at a market that is relatively small at the moment. I was rather disapointed with the specs on their battery though, when I talked to Mil Ovan earlier in the development cycle they were seeing test results that were much closer to NiMH than these batteries - closer to 1000 cycles and much better energy density.

      Hi again from Doug,
      I think this is a very good approach. I don't want someone pressuring us to buy batteries that have no history and for which we have no real data to compare the new product to the old and "reliable" products. However, I want to see what this company has to offer, I won't buy until I see that this is a better product than is already on the market.
      I am disappointed that Fire Fly didn't see fit to offer a battery to EVs. The truck battery doesn't offer much more than that other batteries but an EV battery may have different performance.

      Like Doug brought up this kind of reminded me of Firefly. I was following
      Firefly for four years hoping this would be the one. More surface area and less
      weight seems logical.

      Firefly published specs and I find them very disappointing. No where near
      their initial claims. Take a look

      This would be a good battery going by the supplied information. However the
      weight is still just as heavy as any other lead acid battery. Cycle life is no
      better than Odyssey. Initially these were promoted as being a huge
      improvement in lead batteries. At least they are publishing what appears to be honest
      information. There are a lot of oversea companies that are not going to be
      honest about their product.

      Kevin I am not a scientist and make no claims about knowing on a molecular
      level what will make the best battery.

      I take a very simple approach. Forget the hype and look for real world
      testing done by someone other than the battery manufacturer. Do not believe what
      their salesperson claims.

      All of us here know electric vehicles work and the weak link is batteries.
      This is not lost on anyone who is just looking to make money on the losses you
      sustain buying their product.

      This is why I feel it is wrong for anyone to join this group to sell
      batteries. Especially batteries that are unproven.
