And, although you set the config to AHCI, there might still be some hardware
RAID setup there... (although it should have been indicated in the BIOS
      somehow...)

      What does

      prtconf -D

      provide? Something like:

pci1458,b005, instance #2 (driver name: ahci)
disk, instance #24 (driver name: sd)
disk, instance #25 (driver name: sd)
pci1458,b000, instance #3 (driver name: ahci)
disk, instance #26 (driver name: sd)
disk, instance #27 (driver name: sd)

pci1458,5006, instance #2 (driver name: ehci)
storage, instance #18 (driver name: scsa2usb)
disk, instance #22 (driver name: sd)
disk, instance #23 (driver name: sd)

      pci-ide, instance #2 (driver name: pci-ide)
ide, instance #4 (driver name: ata)
cmdk, instance #1 (driver name: cmdk)
      ide (driver name: ata)

isa, instance #1 (driver name: isa)
      fdc (driver name: fdc)

In this example The first 4 sd entries (aka disks!) are spread across two
different controllers, the last two sd entries refer to possible USB-Disks
(not connected), and the ata is an IDE disk, and fdc is the not installed
      floppy drive...

      Also using

      scanpci

you should see the controller. In the above case, that's:

      pci bus 0x0000 cardnum 0x1f function 0x02: vendor 0x8086 device 0x27c1
Intel Corporation 82801GR/GH (ICH7 Family) SATA AHCI Controller

      pci bus 0x0002 cardnum 0x00 function 0x00: vendor 0x197b device 0x2363
JMicron Technologies, Inc. JMicron 20360/20363 AHCI Controller

      pci bus 0x0002 cardnum 0x00 function 0x01: vendor 0x197b device 0x2363
JMicron Technologies, Inc. JMicron 20360/20363 AHCI Controller

      Hope this helps a bit...
