  • A hamstick dipole is easy to construct and you can easily mount it on a balcony- I've laid one across wooden railings diagonally. 40 meter versions work OK and as you go higher in frequency the perrformance improves. You can get quick disconnects and change the hamsticks very quickly. John KC9OJV From: "Roger Graves ve7vv@^$1 [softrock40]" To: softrock40@^$2 Sent: Tuesday, April 7...

  • David, I don't really have a problem with you posting information about what you're doing with your SDR device but I do take exception to the action of taking away something you never gave or mentioned until you took it off the table ie. support for Softrocks with your new application. You didn't offer that in your announcement and now you're taking it away. I don't care for that...

  • I believe Pete Juliano http://www.jessystems.com/ is working on a VFO based on one of the "lesser" SI chips. He's been talking about it some on the recent Soldersmoke podcasts. John KC9OJV

  • Joel, I don't want to swell your head but that is a brilliantly simple add-on circuit that many could use. You might consider writing that up for QST- I'll bet they'd use it. The other great thing about it is it's a good introduction to building with pads. Many aren't familiar with that style of construction. Lastly it is inexpensive which, as we know, always appeals to hams! John...

  • Thanks for this Warren, It really makes one ponder all the effort going into AD9850's and related goods for critical uses. • That's an interesting idea Dave. I have a TR751A Kenwood that's drifty and one theory is the reference oscillator (10.4 mhz) is the culprit. Does it seem plausible to use a SI530 in place of a crystal in such a situation? • Good Morning Tony, I've been following the progress on Chris's all band transceiver- based on the Softrock and other's work. I think he did a good job making a low profile system for the LPF board- take a look. http://www.m0nka.co.uk/?page_id=485 John KC9OJV From: "Tony Parks kb9yig@^$1 [softrock40]" To: softrock40@^$2 Sent: Saturday, September 13, 2014 7:02 AM Subject: Re...

  • Well maybe my cancelling my subscription and complaining to Larry Wolfgang about the ridiculous avoidance of Softrock related articles in favor of obsure, esosteric drivel had some effect! • Good job Joel, You're proof that even a veteran (and good) builder can stumble on that pesky SI570. Dead soldering irons don't help!
