I got my RXTX 6.1 kit today.
THANK YOU TONY
for making such a great kit available at such an affordable price !
I have build the 6.1 RX 2 weeks ago, and it works like a dream. Im
using it to receive DRM on 3.995 with a 16mhz quarz, and the 3.710 to
3.790 band with a 15mhz quarz. I have used it on the IF of the K2
too, with an 19.66 mhz quartz, but i better like the "stand alone
mode", using an old drake mn2000 matcher as "pre-filter".
I do have tried to connect a DDS instead of a quartz, but this did
not work. I have connected the DDS output to the "hot" pin where the
quartz is normally connected. The DDS output is 1Vpp sine. Any idea
where this kind of LO can be connected?
Instead of using a spurious-polluted DDS to drive the mixer, i would
prefer an old-style PLL, like the design the K2 is using. The PLL can
have steps of 10khz, or even 20khz, since fine-tuning is done via the
sdr-soft. So the design could be much simpler than the actual K2 pll
(only fixed reference frequency).
I am able to program microcontrollers (amel avr) and would be happy
to help in this part if someone else does the pll-vco-etc design.
