      Hi Sid, and everybody.

      Last week I posted a video on youtube about my home-brew Antenna Tuner -
      "Arduino, IR and Encoder controlling Magnetic Loop Antenna Tuner"

      Yesterday I posted another video showing this system working (QSO with Magnetic
      Loop Antenna).

      The first QSO is with EA2ACK, Jose, Cadrete (ZARAGOZA), Spain, 4964 mil (7990km)
      away from my city (Brasília/Brazil).

      The second QSO is with PU5DUD, Renato, Blumenal, Santa Catarina, Brazil, 451 mil
      (727 km) away from Brasilia.

      I used a FT817ND with 5 Watts.

      I would like to share with you my last video on my Youtube channel.

      OK Ricardo, Quite a few years ago vacuum capacitors were a reasonable price at ham radio rallies so I bought 2. The latest 10KV one I got about 3 years ago

        Quite a few years ago vacuum capacitors were a reasonable price at ham radio rallies so I bought 2.

        The one that smashed was Jennings UCSL-1000-3D345 which now costs $239.00 and I got mine at a rally for ~£20.00 UK.

          I have tried to get other guys with limited space or ordinance restrictions to try a magnetic loop but it proves impossible.

          Even a simple loop made of aluminium curtain rod and any variable capacitor will work, especially for RX, but for TX a wider spaced capacitor is needed.

          The WX is not too good for antenna work at the moment. My 13' diameter loop is under about 6 inches of snow on the ground.
          When the WX is better, I'll work on it. I have a large angled bracket which I'll embed in concrete to  support the pole and secure with U-bolts.

          I'll have to get to work on the Arduino and IR remote soon.

          Hello. Sid, working with Softrock SDR and antenna loop can be nice on 15,12 and 10 meters. But on 20, 40 and 80, depending what you want, this antenna may not

            Hello.

            Sid, working with Softrock SDR and antenna loop can be nice on 15,12 and 10 meters.
            But on 20, 40 and 80, depending what you want, this antenna may not be appropriate because the bandwidth becomes very narrower. In this case, you lose some visibility in the spectrum in adjacent frequencies.

            Check this using programs calculating magnetic loop antennas.

            Yes Sid, It is really expensive. I found some vaccum capacitors (5-100pF) on eBay costing $70 plus $40 for shipping to Brazil. 73. PU2CLR. Ricardo.

                  In my higher powered PA's AN762 and EB104 I use vacuum relays.
