    Thanks for that I wonder if disabling and enabling in device manager might work? I ll have a go and see what happens next time it locks up... It does still

      It does still send data just won't "tune" (from where it currently is) or switch bands.

      I have one (old hacked about) Softrock that drops the USB. I've always reckoned it is due to grounding, probably a loop somewhere
      because others do not.
      You may like to check connections, experiment with grounds.
      I guess SDR-Radio will not reconnect if you remove the USB and reconnect? I think HDSDR will but that does not help you... Even if
      it did you'd have to arrange a remote switch.
