Sorry, when I said tune near centre I meant close, ~1 to 3KHz but not ON it. Is that what you did?
If you were dead on the centre frequency on FM nothing would come out. A few tens of HZ off it then a low hum.
A mic and SSB would be heard.
If you do not hear anything then it is mixer or software settings.
