If it is an accurate 50mA it does seem a little high.
A way of testing soundcard mixer/software settings is to put a speaker or phones in the line out of the IQ soundcard.
Set HDSDR tuning close to centre. TX FM should produce VERY loud sounds when all is setup. Then start worrying about the Ensemble.
