- It is also possible to reprogram the switching points in CFGSR. I changed mine from 8MHz to 7MHz. Now I see a steady roll-off going down from 8MHz (8-16 BPF and no attenuator engaged) , with a small jump at 7MHz LO frequency.

They were put in to reduce the gain on those bands since the atmospheric noise is much higher. This gives much better dynamic range on those bands. Of course you could remove them too (and jumper over).
