Good Morning All,
After additional testing of the 20m/40m SoftRock I have decided that
it makes good sense to just offer a 20m v6.0 SoftRock kit. Thus the
v6.0 kit lineup for the second half of 2006 has the following kits
center frequency = 1.842 MHz (tune 1.794 MHz to 1.890 MHz)
80m center frequency = 3.527 MHz (tune 3.479 MHz to 3.575 MHz)
40m center frequency = 7.054 MHz (tune 7.007 MHz to 7.103 MHz)
center frequency = 10.123 MHz (tune 10.075 to 10.171 MHz)
center frequency = 14.043 MHz (tune 13.996 to 14.092 MHz)
The tuning ranges above assume a soundcard that can sample at 96 kHz.
A third run of 1000 v6.0 kits will start in August. Several small
changes have been made to the PCB to make the kit easier to build.
The crystal has been moved 0.025 inches to give better clearance for
L1 and L2. Component designators have, in some cases, been move to
give better identification of component locations. R17 has been
addend from the base of Q2 to ground which can be helpful in getting
a proper signal from Q2 to drive the HC74 flipflops.
Kit prices will remain the same for any of the v6.0 SoftRock kits at
$14 for US/Canada mailing and $15 for DX mailing. Postage is
included in the kit price. I usually give a little price break for
kit orders where the kit count is about ten or more. Built units
are $13 more than the price of the kit.
Alternate crystals can be provided to change the center frequencies
on the bands or if a special application such as an IF signal
processor is wanted.
The v7.0 kit will likely be retired after my present supply of less
than 80 kits is used up.
The SoftRock project continues to be fun for me and I very much
appreciate the interest and kind comments concerning the project.
Thanks and 73,
