The UHFSDR doesn't need a parallel port interface, I use mine with a
UBW, so I guess the ATTiny85 should be OK. My SR v6.3 is using a UBW in
      place of the ATTiny85.
The parallel interface was Dave's interface that could also include a
si570. It presumably was developed when the only options were a serial
      or a parallel port.

The LPT port is not really a big deal, if you build radios surly you can build up a PC. I have standardized on Atom Processors, just built 3 over holiday, they now support 4Gb of memory, have on board mulitchannel audio, LDT and serial ports and on board video and ethernet. I bought board, case with power supply (board only needs 45watts)and 4 Gb memory for $129 US, DVD burner was $17 and HDD was $45. I buy my components from Newegg and wait for special offerings.
