SR 6.3 Power output levels on SSB?
- I'm curious about what sort of power level I should expect out of my 10m RXTX
6.2 and 10m RXTX 6.3. On CW (or using any software generated single-frequency
tone), I can drive the output to around 1/2W, maybe a bit more. However, on
sideband I cannot drive it nearly that high before the audio becomes distored.
I've adjusted both the microphone gain and the output gain and get pretty much
the same result.
My goal with the softrock is to drive a 2m transverter which in turn will
drive microwave transverters. Right now I don't have enough drive out of
the softrock to get anything out of the 2m transverter.

I've not checked mine on 10m but I think yours may be typical. Many say
500mW is about the limit for SSB, 10m may well be lower.
How much is required to drive the transverter? Even if you are getting only
1/4 watt from the Softrock then 1/2 watt will make little difference if you
do not get anything out of the transverter now.
