The trick to getting people to help is in how to ask. It's best if you
have just one narrow topic. If you have three questions post three
times. That's not just here but I see this on most other email lists
As for being new to SDR. In some ways there is nothing new and
you can use a radio without knowing it is an SDR. I think the
Icom 756 Pro III is an "SDR". It seems they digitize the last IF
stage and it's all software from them on. Except they put the
computer inside the chassis so it doesn't show.
With the SR40 the fist IF is at zero Hz and the 2nd IF is in
software on a computer. No magic you still have to
modulate/demod the signal and shift frequencies but rather
then building hardware that uses some "trick" you simply
use direct calculation.
