      Hello,
      I've got the following problem:
      I have a SOAP-Server using SOAP::Lite 0.66 that is sending out the
      responses via Apache.
      When I have special characters in my response (German umlauts etc.), the
      server would usually base64 encode those strings.
      When I tell SOAP to handle the specific string as utf8 everything works
      fine except that the server response is unbearable slow.
      With base64 encoding
      Script processing time: app. 3sec
      SOAP::Lite processing time: app. 2sec

      With forcing of utf8
      Script processing time: app 3sec
      SOAP::Lite processing time: app. 15sec

      Anyone have a clue why the utf8 strings are slowing the SOAP:Lite
      framework done so much?

      Ciao,
      Phil
