      hi guys,

what are the first few characters on this WSDL file?
their values are 60 and 99, which don't look like
special XML UTF-16 markers. is this a new format i've
      never heard of before?

      cheers,
      graham

From the documentation on java.lang.double.toString() [1]:

"If m is zero, it is represented by the characters "0.0"; thus, negative
zero produces the result "-0.0" and positive zero produces the result
        "0.0"."

Of course, to paraphrase Don Knuth [2], "I've only proven that Java does
this, I haven't tried it". (and I also find the documentation on valueOf
to be more ambiguous.) Your mileage may vary.
