      CrockPot Apple Butter

      5 1/2 lbs. apples, peeled and chopped
      4c sugar
      2-3t ground cinnamon
      1/4t salt
      1/4t ground cloves

      Place apples in crockpot. Combine remaining ingredients, pour over
      apples,
      mix well. Cover, cook on high for 1 hour. Reduce heat to low; cover, cook

      for 9-11 hours or til thickened and dark brown, stirring occasionally
      (stir
      more frequently as it thickens to prevent sticking.) Uncover, cook on low
      1
      hour longer. If desired, stir with a whisk til smooth. Spoon into freezer

      containers or jars, leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Cover and cool;
      refrigerate
      or freeze.
      Yield: 4 pints
