Forwarded from Fox, I think most of us have met Freya at some point:

We all need a little help from our community now and then. I guess this
      is my turn...

Freya, our 17 yr old daughter has been suffering from progressively
worse joint pain and decreasing mobility. She is losing the use of her
hands. Lately she has not been able to attend school because she can no
longer walk between classes, climb the stairs and can barely get up out
of a chair on her own. This problem had been growing over the past few
years but has suddenly become much worse. She is a straight "A" student
and enrolled in Premed at a local university this coming Fall. Her
ultimate hope is to become a Pediatric Neurologist.

She has been diagnosed with severe early onset arthritis and Reynaud's
syndrome. They suspect Lupus or some other connective tissue disease
but are still testing for those. They are concerned about the Reynaud's
because she could start losing her fingertips and toes if we don't get
it under control. The doctors say that she has severe arthritis in all
of her joints including her spine.

She is now undergoing daily intravenous medication at the hospital and
they are putting her on a bunch of very strong anti-malarial,
anti-cancer and other immunosuppressant drugs. Yesterday they taught
her how to give herself injections which she is going to have to do for
at least the next five years and she is getting physical therapy.

Today we are picking up a wheelchair for her. Her greatest desire for
the weekend is to participate in one of her last high school band
concerts (she's an award-winning first chair clarinet player who has
also played for years as the youngest member of a local University Youth
Symphony). We are going to wheel her onstage and pray that her fingers
will work well enough for her to play.

Anyway, this is going to be a long struggle for her. We are hoping that
she can recover enough to begin college in the fall. We would
appreciate any prayers for her recovery and success in life that you are
      able to give.

      Much thanks,

      Rob Henderson
