      When I'm not imaging comets (and there aren't any really bright ones right now) I turn to emission nebulae. The skyglow from Chicago limits me to about 20 mags/square arc second, equivalent to a NELM of 5.5 or a Bortle Scale 5. When imaging low to the east (towards Chicago) it is much worse.

      That's where the Hydrogen Alpha filter comes in. It effectively blocks all terrestrial light pollution and moon light.
