      Hi folks,

The latest *Science News* (www.sciencenews.org) reports that DNA and song
analyses suggest the greenish warbler is a ring species -- a population that
spread both ways around a geographic obstacle (in this case the Tibetan
Plateau) such that the divergently developing opposite branches, where they
meet on the far side, no longer act like members of the same species (while
those at the starting point still do). This may lead to greater insights on
the process of speciation -- and of course provide new ammunition against
those who still complain about "no intermediate forms."
