We have uploaded a very inspiring message by blessed and worshipful Holy
Master Sri Swami Sivananandaji Maharaj titled "The Call of the Real". In
this message, the Holy Master explains the true purpose of religion and
that the Real is not the exclusive property of any religion but the
Support and Life of everyone without distinctions of class, creed or
      colour. This message is at

Yours in the service of Gurudev,

ATTACHMENT AND REBIRTH: Mr and Mrs W.K. visited the Ashram. They had
brought with them a small dog which looked very much like a deer. Mrs W.
was very much attached to the little dog. She had purchased it some eight
years back and carried it in a bag wherever she went. The dog, though
eight years old, was no more than a pup in size; it had been dwarfed by
the tradesmen in Germany who deal in such dogs.

The Master was surprised when the lady took the dog out of her bag.

"I thought you were taking a doll out of your bag but it is a living dog!
How is it that it lives inside the closed bag? Doesn't it require air?"

"The air inside the bag is sufficient," replied the lady.

"What food does it eat?" enquired the Master. "Rice?"

"She doesn't eat rice. She eats only meat."

"Suppose you do not get meat," enquired the Master.

"She can fast for two or three days," replied the lady.

Later, after the visitors had departed, the Master remarked, "It will be
like the case of Jada Bharata. In the next birth she will be born as a

The story of Jada Bharata is well known. He had to take birth as a deer in
consequence of his remembrance of a deer at the time of death. He had
brought up a motherless deer and had got very much attached to it, so much
so that the thought of the deer came uppermost in his mind at the time of
his death. Hence he had to take the birth of a deer in his next birth.

"Saints, sages and seers have conquered sorrow, pain and death, through
faith, devotion and spiritual practices. Claim your birthright and attain
the goal of life, Self-realisation. Arise, awake! Lead the divine life of
truth, purity, love and goodness." - Swami Sivananda
