      Om Namo Bhagavate Sivanandaya!
      Om Namo Bhagavate Chidanandaya!
      Om Namo Bhagavate Krishnanandaya!

      Namaste!

We have uploaded Sri N. Ananthanarayanan's "What Does Swami Sivananda
Teach?" at our free books page at
      http://www.rsl.ukans.edu/~pkanagar/divine/download/download.htm

This book is a very good introduction to the teachings of the Master. It
covers among others, the Master's teachings on Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and
Meditation. The first chapter, titled "The Human Quest", serves as a
motivation to take up the life spiritual.

May the Holy Master's grace be upon all the readers of this book.

Yours in the service of Gurudev,

      Pannir

DETACH-ATTACH: From amongst a group of aristocratic visitors who had come
to the Ashram for the Master's Darshan, a middle-aged lady approached him
reverentially and asked to be blessed with spiritual instructions.

"Detach, attach," was the Master's reply. Neither the lady nor other
visitors could make out the meaning of the Master's commandment. While
they could understand the significance of the word "detach", the word
"attach" was puzzling to them, and they even went to the extent of
      objecting to it.

Noticing this, the Master clarified, "Detach the mind from the objects and
      attach it to the Lord."

Now the visitors appreciated the great wisdom the two words conveyed and
      they smiled in admiration.

Continuing, the Master exhorted, "Be good, do good. Serve, love, give,
purify, meditate, realize. Enquire 'Who am I?' and know the Self. Do
      Japa."

"Study philosophical books as much as you like, deliver lectures
throughout your global-tour, remain in Himalayan caves for thousands of
years, practice Pranayama for years, do Sirshasana (headstand) for the
whole life, you cannot attain emancipation without the grace of Guru." -
      Swami Sivananda
