PREPARATION FOR SANNYAS: Looking at a young man who had earlier requested
for Sannyas, and whom he has asked to wait and serve, the Master said,
"Prepare yourself for Sannyas. Do you know how to prepare for Sannyas?"
enquired the Master, and himself answered, "This is how to prepare for
Sannyas. Even if you are beaten with a stick or shoes you should remain
silent like a block of stone. If you do not get food or tea from the
kitchen, you should keep quiet. Even if you are made to starve for two
days and beaten with shoes on the third, you should not complain. You
should repeat 'Sivoam' and keep quiet."

"Anger, lust, greed, jealousy, hatred will always lurk in your
subconscious mind. Beware. Be cautious. Be vigilant. Be alert. Eradicate
them. Otherwise they will gain strength and will crush you later on and
swallow all your Sadhana." - Swami Sivananda
