      Om Namo Bhagavate Chidanandaya!
      Om Namo Bhagavate Krishnanandaya!

We just received news that H.H. Sri Swami Brahmanandaji Maharaj
attained the Lotus Feet of Gurudev on Thursday, September 12th just
before 2.00 p.m. (Indian time). We shall post more information as they
      become available.

We have uploaded a lecture by Guru Maharaj Sri Swami Chidanandaji and
another by Sri Swami Atmaswarupanandaji. These talks were delivered
after the early morning meditation session in the sacred Samadhi Hall
of Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji Maharaj, Sivananda Ashram,
      Rishikesh.The two talks are:

"The Thing To Be Known" by Sri Swami Chidanandaji:

"Recognising the Manifestations of Ego" by Sri Swami

Yours in the service of Gurudev,

ADAPT AND ADJUST: In the evening the Master was on his way to the
Ashram buildings above the main road, to inspect the newly constructed
Parvati Kutir and the studio. When he had reached the main gate leading
to the office hall, he met an aspirant who had previously complained to
him about the lack of proper accommodation as also the unavailability
      of ghee and curd.

On seeing him the Master said to the other disciples accompanying him,
"We have to give a room to S."

Sri S. replied, "I have already been given a room." "But you say that
it is not healthy," remarked the Master.

      "I am managing somehow."

"Manage like that. Adapt and adjust. I think you do not know how to
      move with others."

Sri S., after smiling, agreed that he did not know how to move amicably
      with others.

The Master made some general remarks applicable to all aspirants,
      especially to the new ones.

"After coming here many aspirants complain that they used to be served
with curd, ghee and other rich food at home by their mothers, and that
they do not get such food here. They expect all the comforts and
conveniences they enjoyed at home. They want solitary rooms and all
other conveniences. This is no renunciation at all. An aspirant taking
to the path of renunciation should have endurance. It is one of the
Niyamas of Raja Yoga. It develops willpower. It is indispensable for
any earnest aspirant. The mind always likes comforts and luxuries. In
many the mind is very weak on account of attachment to material

"An aspirant should be able to put up with any situation in which he
finds himself. Instead of complaining about external conditions, he
should train his mind to adapt itself to changing situations and
circumstances. He should rest in the Self. He should draw strength from
Japa, Kirtan, concentration and meditation. If all one's external
circumstances are favourable, how can one grow in endurance, in will-
power and spiritual strength? The more the external disadvantages, the
more the need to intensify one's daily spiritual practices and draw
strength and power from the inexhaustible Self within. Even if you have
to go without food for some days together, you should not feel grieved
or get disheartened. You should take suffering as a gift of God to
strengthen the will and increase your endurance. Such suffering will
enable you to know your weak points so that they may be rectified by
      appropriate means.

"An aspirant should have dispassion. He should not crave for anything.
He should be satisfied with whatever he gets. He should have
contentment. He should adapt, adjust and accommodate. He should bear
abuse. He should not complain. Only one who is able to do all these is
fit to take to the path of renunciation. This path is full of thorns,
but to one who has self-control and who possesses the above qualities,
it is an easy path. Such an aspirant alone will be able to profit by

"Radha is Devi. She is the queen of lustrous beauties and the abode of
Sri Krishna's love-sports and worship. She beholds Lord Krishna in
anything and everything she sets Her love-lit eyes upon. Lord Krishna
is the supreme matchless Lover and Sri Radha is identical with Krishna.
She is part and parcel of Krishna and His love-energy. Her sole object
of existence and devout prayers, is to fulfil the wishes of Sri
Krishna. Hence She is named Krishnamayi by the Puranas. She is full of
Krishna inside and outside. Krishna is the charmer of all. Radha is
Krishna's charmer and therefore the Supreme Goddess." - Swami
