      Om Namo Bhagavate Sivanandaya!
      Om Namo Bhagavate Chidanandaya!
      Om Namo Bhagavate Krishnanandaya!

      Namaste!

We have uploaded another three articles by Gurudev Sri Swami Sivanandaji
      Maharaj
on the Hindu scriptures. They are:

      1) The Bhagavad Gita--The cream of the Vedas
      http://www.SivanandaDlshq.org/religions/gita.htm

      2) The Puranas--Written to popularise the religion of the Vedas
      http://www.SivanandaDlshq.org/religions/puranas.htm

      3) The Agamas--Treatises explaining the external worship of God, in
      idols, temples, etc.
      http://www.SivanandaDlshq.org/religions/agamas.htm

"The Essence of The Aitareya and Taittiriya Upanishads" is the latest
book uploaded to Sri Swami Krishnanandaji's site. In this book, Sri
Swamiji Maharaj analyzes the Upanishadic doctrine of universal creation
and the involvement of individual suffering when the individual
separates itself from the cosmic structure. This book is at:

Six more Portugese translations of Sri Gurudev's writings have been
      uploaded to:
      http://www.321website.com/members/home/data/gnostico/indice.htm
They are: Mahatma Gandhi, 20 Espiritual Instructions and Mahabharata,
      translated by Sri Ojasvi
dasa - and Yoga, Yoga of Sintesis and Fundaments of Yoga, translated by
      Sri Carlos Eduardo Demaio.

Sri Swami Nadabrahmanandaji, a devotee of Sri Gurudev, is on a
pilgrimage for World Peace. Swamiji is currently south of Los Angeles in
California and making his way slowly towards San Francisco before he
heads East probably in the spring of 2001. You can read about Swamiji's
      pilgrimage at:

Yours in the service of Gurudev,

THE MASTER'S INDIFFERENCE: After a few hours had elapsed another case
      comes before the Master.

Swami X., an old disciple who had taken Sannyas from the Master some
years ago and who had his own circle of followers, got a little
irritated over a trivial incident and thought of going back to his
followers. He came to take leave of the Master.

"Om Namo Narayanaya, Swamiji Maharaj! I want to return today," he said,
and briefly explained what had happened.

"But what do these little boys know? You are an old Sannyasin. You are a
pillar of the Society. The mission needs veteran Sadhus like yourself.
Now I have all young boys. There must be some aged Mahatmas like
yourself. Only if you stay here will the institution be respectable,"
the Master argued for a little while.

"All right, if you feel like it you can go."

The Master then forgot all about it.

      -----------------------------------------------------

"The Gita is the cream of the Vedas. It is the essence of the
Upanishads. It is the universal scripture for all people of all
temperaments and for all times. It is a wonderful book with sublime
thoughts and practical instructions on Yoga, devotion, Vedanta and
action. It is a marvellous book, profound in thoughts and sublime in
heights of vision. It gives peace and solace to the souls who are
afflicted by the three fires (Taapas) of this mortal world (Samsara),
viz., Adhyatmika (afflictions caused by one’s own body), Adhibhautika
(those caused by beings around one) and Adhidaivika (those caused by the
      gods)." - Swami Sivananda
