Her Excellency President of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil,
Lawyers in Delhi had decided to observe a strike against amendment in Criminal Procedure Code, terming the amendment as against public interests. The Coordinate Committee of the Bar Association of Delhi, declared that we disapprove it as this is anti-social amendment in the Cr. P. C., instead they should have declare that the amendment is against their own interests.Amendment is not anti-social, as claimed by aforesaid Lawyers. Rather it will ensure the fundamental right of natural justice of fair defense by accused person, on receiving notice to appear before the Police to cooperate the Investigations. Even after amendment Police is authorized to arrest to accused person, if he or she not appear in spite of such Notice from the Police. There is need to protest against such agitation planing by a section of the lawyers, whose are not ready to approve reforms, which will ensure radical changes in accordance with the need and requirement of the society.
Therefore, this is humble request that without any furher delay assent should be accorded by her Excellency President to aforesaid Amendment. With Best Regards,Yours faithfully,Milap Choraria
