Sorry, I neglected the facing page:

Fig. 3. The family of the prince (“ knyaz’ “) Sviatoslav
Iaroslavich (1027-1076). Watercolor from the manuscript of “Izbornik
Sviatoslava” (“Sviatoslav’s Compilation”) of 1073. Prince, his wife, and sons
      in clothing of Byzantine style.

On the prince there is a hat with fur brim and flaps, with
wide rounded top. Blue cape with gold trim and red lining, fastened at the
right shoulder, is covering his left arm and most of his front. Under the cape
there is a sort of tunic (kaftan) of green with red border at the hem and gold
cuffs. On his feet there are green boots of soft leather. On the princess there
is a belted overdress of reddish yellow with border at the hem. Under the dress
show a tunic and tips of red boots. Gold cuffs show from under the wide sleeves
of the overdress. Prince’s sons wear variously colored belted kaftans (coats)
with collars, wide borders at the hems, and cuffs. On there heads there are
fabric rounded  hats shaped as cones with
      fur trim.

Note 1. In later artifacts princes and boyars, from Oleg and
Igor on, are portrayed in hats with fur brims and jewel-trimmed radiating
      strips.

Note 2: Byzantine historian Leo Diacon, who saw the
great-grandfather of Sviatoslav Iaroslavich, Sviatoslav Igorevich (942-972)
gives this description, which is the earliest available to us description of
the appearance of a Russian prince:

“He looked like this: middle height, not too tall, not too
small, with bushy eyebrows, blue eyes, flat nose, shaved beard and thick long
mustache on the upper lip. His head was completely bold, but on one side there
dangled a lock of hair showing his high birth; shoulders broad, neck thick, the
figure rather trim.  He appeared gloomy
and strict. In one ear he had a bold earring, decorated with two pearls and a
ruby in between them. His clothing was white, not distinguished from others by
anything other than cleanliness” (quoted from The History of the USSR, 1939, p. 94).
