      Dear Father:


                Our brother and fellow priest, Monsignor William J. Sherzer, entered eternal life on May 30, 2007 at the age of 87.


                Monsignor Sherzer was born on March 10, 1920 in Oswego , NY and ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Detroit on June 8, 1946.  He served in various positions at Epiphany, St. Mary of Redford, St. Theresa of Avila , and St. Valentine Parishes; and, most recently, at St. Priscilla Parish.  Monsignor Sherzer achieved senior status on July 5, 1989.


                O'Brien-Sullivan Funeral Home is handling the arrangements (248-348-1800).  Monsignor Sherzer will be waked at St. Priscilla Parish, 19120 Purlingbrook Road , Livonia .  Visitation will be on Sunday, June 3, from 2 to 7 p.m., with a scripture service at 6 p.m.  Monsignor Sherzer's body will lie in state at St. Priscilla on Monday, June 4, from 10 a.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 11 a.m.  Burial will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield , immediately following the funeral Mass.   A full obituary is available at www.obriensullivanfuneralhome.com.


                Monsignor Sherzer is survived by a brother, John.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Priests' Pension Fund.


                Kindly include in the general intercessions of your weekend liturgies a prayer for the repose of the soul of Monsignor Sherzer.  Keep him in your prayers and include him in the Masses celebrated in accord with our revised Mass Pact.
