Group Description

Shawnee Cemetery, Plymouth PA - Preserving History. A group formed to promote preservation of a local cemetery steeped in history...coal mining, Civil War, Spanish American War, World Wars I & II, immigration history and local culture.

**We now have the newly formed "Shawnee Cemetery Preservation Association". Regular meetings have been taking place. Memberships are now available. All membership dues go directly to the care of the cemtery.** Membership is $30.00 yearly to help in the upkeep, preservation & restoration of this Historic Shawnee.Donations can be sent to: Shawnee Cemetery Preservation Association,PO.Box:224, Plymouth,Pa.18651

We will gladly accept volunteers as well as donations of usable lawn equipment suitable for rough terain, gas to power the equipment,etc.

***The current photo is the North West corner of the Plymouth's Historic Shawnee Cemetery. Over 300 unidenfied graves were found in 2010 by the SCPA while cutting brush trying to find the borders. This section has not been cared for in over 70 years, untill now. There is so much to do here and so little help. Every other step is a grave on both sides, I count at less nine rows.
