      JAL has asked their pilots to take a 30% pay cut.
       
      Amsterdam's Schipol Airport has received a loan from the EU for improvements.
       
      Twelve Philippine Airlines pilots walked off the job abruptly. Two of them had a fully loaded A320 with passengers headed for Hong Kong. All of these dozen PAL pilots had jobs lined up with various carriers abroad. PAL will be adjustiing the schedules, due to the lack of pilots, on HKG and domestic flights.
       
      Emirates adding a flight from Dubai to Tripoli, Libya.
       
      Air Berlin has added Dusseldorf to Volos service. Volos is in the central part of Greece's east coast.
       
      Greek upstart carrier Argo Air has started seaplane service, from their base in Volos. This includes service to the islands of Skiathos and Skopelos(where the movie "Mamma Mia" was filmed.) Plus service from Volos to Athens.
       
      [Yes, while the rest of the country is hurting financially, this city of about 80 thousand has been doing exceptionally well. Russia and Ethiopia have been buying produce here, due to inability to fruits/vegetables in some parts of their country. Plus Raytheon has a manufacturing facility for the Patriot missle there, as well. Aside from an occasional charter flight from Austria, the air service was next to nothing, up until now. Business travelers would have to fly into ATH or SKG and then take ground transportaion. ]
       
      Mexicana is considering bankruptcy, and is also having problems with labor-managment relations. As a result, the Canadian government ordered two of their flights into Canadian destinations cancelled.
       
      Southwest is mulling over the idea of possibly flying to Canada and Mexico, but did not say any specifics.
       
      The United Arab Emirates is considering a ban on the use of Blackberries, I-Phones, and all other "smart" phones in October. So, it is something to consider if you plan to go there in the near future.
