777 update......Pakistani has just received its first, and Air France is getting its second 300-series plane.

Lufthansa has started service from Frankfurt to Guangzhou(Canton).

Tehran's new airport just opened, a full two months ahead of the original schedule. Iranian President Mohammed Khatami is, in the meantime, trying to make amends with the U.S. and has been making preliminary plans to start up the first official diplomatic dialogue with the U.S. since 1979.

[It is notable that you can now book Iran Air in APOLLO, while you can't book Northwest anymore!! ]

Low cost carrier Air Arabia is starting service from the UAE to the new Tehran airport. [Looks like things are picking up in Iran.]

AA is going to start code-sharing with Vietnam Airlines. [No surprise there.]

Air India and Indian Airlines are banishing chicken from their menus due to the recent disease problem. [It's going to be interesting to see what will be on the menu at AI and IC. The majority of Indians don't eat beef for religious reasons, so that is not on the planes either. Lamb instead, perhaps? Or everything being vegeterian, and having meat dishes as an special?]
