97779Are time-travel stories sci-fi by default?
- May 1, 2014Take SM Stirling's trilogy that starts with "Island In The Sea Of Time", about Nantucket getting whisked away from 1998 and ending up in 1250 BC. There's nothing inherently sci-fi AFTER that "Event". It's all archaeological, and historical-based fiction. What about the Christopher Reeve movie, "Somewhere In Time"? A blatant chic flick who's only tenuous sci-fi trapping is that he convinced himself back into 1910 (or whatever the year was), only to get snapped back into the present when he sees a contemporary penny.
