Re: [sfbikingfamilies] Suggested Mission to Exploratorium route?
- View SourceThanks all for the great routes! I think I'll be taking Teresa's advice and testing the ride out without toddler in tow. And I may just have to wait until my little guy can handle that long of a trip without getting antsy in the back seat.Best,Lisa

Subject: RE: [sfbikingfamilies] Suggested Mission to Exploratorium route?Hi Lisa,I am also a biking mama with a heavy bike (we call it the SUV) so I feel your pain and hear your plea. And while I haven't actually done this ride (although you have inspired me to do it one day), this is the way I would try based on the SF Bike Coalition map :Take ValenciaTurn right onto MarketTake Market all the way down to the EmbarcaderoMake a left on EmbarcaderoTake it all the way down and around Fort Mason to BakerTurn left onto BakerThen Right onto JeffersonTo me this seems to be the most doable since, although its a long distance, it is pretty much flat. One thing I like to do before I do a new ride with my son, is bike it myself or at least drive it once to familiarize myself with the route and take note of any tricky spots that may feel dangerous with my kiddo.Well good luck. Would love to hear what route you do and how it goes.Have fun,Teri

Subject: [sfbikingfamilies] Suggested Mission to Exploratorium route?
On my more ambitious days, I have visions of biking from home (29th & Mission) to the Exploratorium with my science-loving toddler. But I'm always stumped as to what's the best route. I checked out Google maps' suggested route and it didn't appeal, though I can't remember why. I call my mom-bike The Tank because it is so heavy, so steepness is a factor.
Does anyone have a great route, or can I not get there from here on The Tank?
