To be honest, I think everyone needs a little warm up to get "into it." I
know a few Bruce Lee types who can walk onto the dojo floor and fight, no
warm up. (Insert Elm story here.) However, I can't. I know with what
speed I can fight, safely, pretty much from the get go, but I can get a LOT
faster on 5th or 6th fight.
I think, from fighting you, that your problem with warmup isn't a skill
problem, but an appearance problem. You "look" unready to fight. Play
around on your warmups more, throw the opponent a smile and say "I bet this
won't work!" before diving into a nice slow triple. Ok, you die. "Yep!"
Stretch a bit after you die and see if you can get your game on. You might
be "psyching yourself out" in warmups. After you got your game on, you did
very well. You won't have trouble passing dagger.
ps. I think I overworked my left arm. I tried to mostly use the dagger,
but Francois got me going with case. I am at work today holding my rib in
