      This is a summary of current activities on the selfstudyhebrew list, an
      open email list dedicated to the study of the Hebrew language: Classical
      (Biblical), Rabbinic, and Modern. Active groups include:

      • Genesis (Hebrew Typing Skills; Translation Optional)
      • 1 Kings (Biblical Translation - intermediate)

      Anyone may join or drop a study group at any time.

      A volunteer coordinator will set a study group's agenda, and will
      collect and collate assignments, which will then be posted to the list
      for comparison and discussion.

      Questions or comments of general interest should be posted to

        This is an open group that anyone may join at any time. The main purpose of the group is to manitain Hebrew typing skills with the additoinal benefit of skills in translating from one of the best loved books in the scriptures.

        When we come accros the name of the Lord, as is our custom on this group we will use the standard forms of יי and  אֱלֹקִים  and L-rd and G-d

        MAT So they went into the ark with Noah, two by two from all flesh in which was the breath of life


        PEB וַיָּבֹאוּ אֶל־נֹחַ הַתֵּבָ֑ה שְׁנַיִם שְׁנַיִם מִכָּל־הַבָּשָׂר אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ רוּחַ חַיִּֽים׃

        PEB And there came to Noah, to the ark, two by two, [pairs] of every living thing in which is the breath of life.
