Group Description

This announcement list is for folks who are interested in receiving updates on seat belts for larger passengers. Even though 49 states (all but New Hampshire) require seat belt use, current federal regulations only require automakers to manufacture seat belts that fit people up to 215 lbs.

Started in 1999 by Elizabeth Fisher, a woman in search of a seat belt extender for her Honda Odyssey, Fisher's website chronicles her campaign to change the federal regulation regarding the manufacture of seat belt assemblies. The seat belt website, at http://www.ifisher.com, contains a library of information on seat belts for larger passengers.
