Lecture with Todd Peterson. Through a coordinated multi-
national effort spanning 13 years, the DNA sequence of the
human genome is complete. Genome research over the next decade
will propel the next level of biomedical discovery. A brief
history of the Human Genome Project, examples of genetic
variation, recent studies in comparative genomics, gene
regulation and their implications in human health and disease
will be discussed.
