      Software Development Manager for the nation's largest provider of
      advanced property and ownership information, analytics, and
      services. This $175M+ real estate and property data company located
      in Orange County, CA is a profitable, industry-leading organization
      belonging to a family of business information companies comprising
      an $8+B Fortune 500 corporation.

      Position Overview:

      The Development Manager will guide and mentor software development
      professionals working on small Agile development teams developing
      core J2EE web-based business applications. The Development
      Manager's role will be to develop, implement and continuously
      improve the company's Software Development processes and team
      capabilities. The results will be evidenced by multiple self-
      managed teams working in parallel producing and releasing a greater
      volume of high-quality software at regular intervals that meet the
      company's business objectives. The long-term objective is to
      the company in closing in on a CMM Level-3 certification rating.

      In addition, the Development Manager will plan, coordinate, direct
      and design product development-related activities for the
      organization, as well as provide administrative direction and
      support for daily operational activities of the Development
      Department. The Development Manager will provide technical
      leadership to the Development Team. The Development Manager will
      work closely with the decision makers in other departments to
      identify, recommend, develop, implement and support development
      solutions for all aspects of the organization.


      • Facilitate and ensure compliance with the company's
      development process
      • Prioritize and track progress for technology-related
      • Manage and direct approximately seven software development
      team members
      • Assist with project team staffing based on the assessment of
      team members' skills and priority of deliverables
      • Attend and administer code reviews
      • Provide status reporting to the Vice President of
      Engineering and other Executives
      • Actively participate in the recruitment and hiring of staff
      • Set expectations and goals for the department and individual
      staff members
      • Provide mentoring, professional development and training
      opportunities for staff
      • Oversee performance management of staff, including periodic
      reviews and evaluations, disciplinary actions and terminations as
      • Establish, maintain and monitor departmental policies to
      enforce industry standard development practices
      • Keep current with the latest technologies
      • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as may
      be defined or assigned from time to time

      Skills and Qualifications:

      • Master's and/or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science
      equivalent degree
      • Three years or more experience managing software development
      • Seven years or more of "hands-on" software development
      experience, preferably with Web and/or J2EE experience
      • Strong software and system architecture and design skills
      • Experience with Oracle or a similar RDBMS product strongly
      • Strong understanding of project management principles
      • Solid understanding and appreciation of Agile Development
      processes such as Extreme Programming, Scrum, RUP, FDD, etc. (Recent
      real-world experience a plus)
      • Familiar with BEA Weblogic and/or other J2EE application
      • Proven analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities
      • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a
      high-pressure environment
      • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented,
      collaborative environment
      • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
      • Ability to project a "can-do" positive attitude
      • Excellent interpersonal skills
      • Strong leadership skills
