For Scrum people in the Bay area you might find the following course
to be of value as it ties in very well with Scrum principles:

Mary Poppendieck is going to be out in November running a 2 day
workshop on Lean Development techniques in San Jose. We are limiting
it to 30 people only so please register early.

      Course info:

Lean Software Development author Mary Poppendieck is offering a 2 day
intensive course aimed at IT professionals to increase the
productivity, quality and the speed of development. Using the
principles she's spent decades honing at innovative companies such as
3M you will learn how to:

      * Identify the 20% of software development effort that delivers 80% of
      the value
      * Eliminate the real waste in software development
      * Increase quality and decrease cost through a learning-centric process
      * Reduce unnecessary complexity and improve organizational decision making

This program is designed for software development practitioners who
are searching for ways to improve the value delivered to their
organizations. It will be particularly useful to those who are looking
for tools and practices that they can quickly put to use.
