This is the journey of a 700 person engineering organization toward agility through Scrum. This is the story of how a CTO noticed the slowing down of his group and what he did about it. It continues with how that group implemented agile practices and adapted them.

As with all changes, they faced challenges. The culture was not ready for agile, they had a large suite of products that shipped together, and it was a legacy system that was seven years in development with low automated test coverage.

Dan will present some of these issues, review some of their approaches, and share the results. We'll see how they handled coordinating a large suite release. We'll also look at how they dealt with organizational impediments and how an internal coach helped them along the way.

      Speaker Bio:
Dan LeFebvre is an Agile/Scrum Coach with over twenty years in software product development as a developer, manager, director, and coach. He has been applying agile practices for over six years. He helps organizations reduce cycle times while improving quality by teaching them agile principles and practices.

Dan spent two years as the internal agile coach for a local software company. During his tenure, he introduced and rolled out Scrum across the 700 person engineering organization. This resulted in increased visibility into the development process and a reduction in defects by 60% in 18 months.

Dan holds a Masters degree in Computer Science from Boston University. He is a Certified Scrum Master and Certified Scrum Practitioner. He has contributed articles to Scrum Alliance and Boston SPIN.
