RE: [scrumdevelopment] Function Point
- The problem with story points as a comparative measure between teams is that there is no set, specified, objective scale of story points. One team may opt for 1,2,4,8 story points, and another team may opt for 10,20,40,80. Each may be attempting to estimate exactly the same thing. Both are perfectly good measures, and if held to, provide just as good a comparison between iterations for each team respectiviely, but certainly do not provide a good comparison between the teams.
Function points have been brought down to a fine art by a lot of parameters to be included in the calculation. If each team applies the same set of parameters and goes by the same book, then maybe that can be a comparative measure between the teams. But you first must have some faith in function points, which is debateable.

Subject: [scrumdevelopment] Function Point
Story point is a relative size measurement made by the team. Different teams might come up with different estimation for the same story/project. In several articles, function point were used to compare productivity among different projects. I'm wondering which is the best measurement to compare the project size if we have to do so.
