As I understand from your email, you are a Cub Scout Leader - right?
Why are you taking IOLS? IOLS is for Scoutmaster/ASM positions. I watched the IOLS guys when I was going thru OWLs and they do a lot of things that Cub Scouts can't do and train on things our boys are not ready for.
I took Woodbadge as a Cub Scout Leader and they required me to be trained for the position I was in and if possible Baloo or OWLs. I would check with your council (Circle 10, right) and see what they are requiring for the course.
For the training dates, you can go to other districts and even other councils/districts (if you want to drive) to obtain the training. Check out councils around you and see if they are close enough to hit the training if you can't make your own.

Subject: [Scouter_T] IOLS, Baloo, and other trainings
Any helpful ideas?
I am a new den leader and have completed all the basic trainings
(only because I jumped on it and grabbed our district's last session
before Spring). I would like to complete the Baloo training and
ideally the IOLS so that I have all the qualifications for Wood
Training in in the Fall or subsequent Spring.
It appears that the trainings really offered for leaders in the
various districts within my council are all set in September and then
(as in the case of Baloo) on a single weekend in October. Several
districts offer Baloo this fall, but all on the same day.
Unfortunately, I am taking my family camping on the weekend Baloo is
It now appears I may not be able to take Baloo until Spring or
perhaps next Fall. The same for IOLS.
Any ideas for how to get these trainings accomplished. ...it seems
like you have to take it when offered as there are really no timing
options if that first date doesn't work for you.
