districts going to help their units achieve Quality Unit status in 2007 when
the requirements change? The new requirements seem to strongly suggest that
the unit has a Unit Commissioner and meet with that UC at least once.
When I was in a school PTO-chartered pack for a year, they had a unit
commissioner, who would attend most committee meetings and some pack
meetings. In the LDS-church-chartered pack I've been involved in for the
last 7 years, we have never had a visit from a unit commissioner or even an
ADC over the LDS units. I do not know how many of the total units in our
district have UCs.
The new QU requirements also seem to require participation in the council's
fall product sale, and seems at least a little problematic for most
LDS-church-chartered units, who as a general rule don't really recruit boys
or parents. It doesn't really explain what it means to "recruit ___ new
adults to be active."
It seems that these new requirements could cause a lot of units to lose
their quality unit status.
