I lived in St Andrews Fife (KY16 9LN) and am not related. There is an excellent genealogical resource at Dundee, the next city north.
John was a watch and clock maker, bn 1806 St Andrews.

Unless he emigrated, he should be identifiable in the Census years 1901 and 1891. Church ministers were inclined to respond to distant calls!! The easiest Ministers to track are those of the
Church of Scotland. Enquire at any good genealogical Library, for "FASTI".
Your folk in 1881 lived at 39 South St. The next street, Market Street had this family in it, possibly in-laws of George Anderson:
