Johnny Depp is headed back to hard science fiction. The former "Astronauts Wife" star is set for the lead in Wally Pfister's "Transcendence" The script follows a husband and wife team who develop a programming code for the first self-aware computer. But when a group of anti-technology terrorists try to assassinate the husband, his wife uploads his brain into a prototype supercomputer. Rather than going horribly wrong, the man starts to respond in computer form and connects him to the Internet to continue to explore this breakthrough.
The sequel to Rise of the Planet of the Apes is coming together. "Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes" has cast Gary Oldman as a leader of the endangered human race. Set 15 years after the primate revolution that started in San Francisco during Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Dawn shows a world ruled by intelligent apes. Most of the humans have been wiped out. The movie takes place inside one of the last remaining human colonies (also in the Bay Area), where a group of scientists have devised a plan to take out the animals. Meanwhile, Cesar struggles to keep the peace between humans and simians. Dawn is set for release on May 23, 2014.
Chris Pine is entering into that phase of his career that most up and coming actors would find envious. Sure he's made it big, after playing Kirk in 2009′s "Star Trek", but he says that each time he takes on big roles it's still a bit nerve-wracking. The latest mountain for Pine to climb is of Tom Clancy`s CIA Analyst Jack Ryan, in a movie that is currently filming.Taking on the role of Ryan was like "jumping off a cliff," said Pine, but "I can't be Alec Baldwin, I can't be Harrison Ford; I can only really do my own thing and stay true to the pillars of this character."
Warehouse 13 returns to SyFy on April 29th, with 10 all new episodes to conclude the fourth season. Still now word on whether there will be a fifth season
Not unlike a politician, former X-Files star David Duchovny urged fans to take part in a letter-writing campaign for a third X-Files movie on The Tonight Show recently. Jay Leno had asked if there would be another "X-Files" movie. "We always want to, Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson and I. We're always on board. You know, you want to write to Fox. Get them going." Ever since the 2008 release of `X-Files: I Want to Believe,' the desire for a third and final `X-Files' film has been expressed, not only by fans, but also by Carter, Duchovny, Anderson and executive producer Frank Spotnitz. The only people not on board is Fox. Duchovny, on his end, doesn't mind how long it will take to get a film made. "You could wheel me out. I'll be Fox Mulder forever."
NASA's Van Allen Probes mission has discovered a previously unknown third radiation belt around Earth. "Even 55 years after their discovery, the Earth's radiation belts still are capable of surprising us and still have mysteries to discover and explain," said Nicky Fox, Van Allen Probes deputy project scientist at the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Md. "We thought we knew the radiation belts, but we don't. The advances in technology and detection made by NASA in this mission already have had an almost immediate impact on basic science."
