I like how Shane was all "gung-ho" and "macho" until poor Sophia came out of the barn... then as usual, it had to be Rick who walks up and does the hardest thing possible while every one else just watches on... And you could just see the pain in his eyes as he was doing it - what great acting. It was a heart wrenching scene... Shane is re-acting on fear alone, and that's going to end up getting someone killed.

I have to admit I've never read any of that. I do have a bag ready to go. I'd take my dog too. Can't leave Yoda behind. As a hobby I'm always watching the news for odd stuff (maybe I should do what they do in Men in Black and check the periodicals more frequently) since I don't trust any government at all.
If you can find it, read Dead of Night by Jonathon Maberry. One of the best zombie novels I've ever read (most are garbage).

I did the whole survival thing myself too Rob! Learned a LOT.

Off-topic: Do you have a Go-bag? Do you have "When All Hell Breaks Loose" by Cody Lundin? Have you checked out David Morris' stuff?
I have to admit tho that after a while that interest had a very negative effect on my psyche so I balanced it out with positive-thinking efforts too.

All showed humanity at their best and worst. I firmly believe in a real apocalypse, worst would win out. As they say at the beginning of the road warrior, those brutal enough to pillage survived. Yes, the group Max, who is as brutal as the enemy, helps survives, but w/o his help they were dead. Of course there is also Lucifer's Hammer. The civilized people survive against the New Brotherhood Army, but they need mustard gas to do it. Homo Sapiens wiped out Homo Neanderthalus, even though both species could have survived. So even though it sounds depressing, the worst win out until they feel safe enough to evolve socially.
