      Suppose the alien lived right on the edge of a massive globular cluster?
      How would that influence them?

      Think about the aliens in Brunner's Crucible of Time. They live on a
      planet whose system is moving thru an area of the galaxy that has a lot of dust
      and debris. Their planet is subject to heavy meteor strikes. How would
      that affect their fiction?

      We could have some fun with this
