      插畫家們在收到新書的文字稿時,總是需要一段時間思考.適應,尤其出版社
      總是給一些基本的大方向,而沒能指導如何起頭。因此,黃本蕊將和大家分享
      二十多年來的插畫心得,從"讀故事好比看電影"."選擇風格".到"草圖製"等。

      <講者介紹>
      黃本蕊在家四兄妹中排行老三,從小淘氣調皮卻同時是個啃書蟲的她,長大
      為自己的一生選擇了童書插畫家這一職業。從此她淘氣調皮地做著與書籍有 的
      童書插畫工作。

      大學裡主修油畫,畢業于國立台灣師範大學美術係的她,隨後負笈大蘋果紐
      約市,就讀于視覺藝術中心學院插畫研究所 ,研究插畫藝術。至今身為一個童
      書插畫家,她與家人住在紐約市-- 一個愛邊想邊畫的雕塑家先生,一個連做夢
      都在畫畫的兒子,和一隻不畫畫的天竹鼠。家裡書架上還滿滿的塞著她所畫的
      書。

      黃本蕊的第一本書是“巨人能做什麼?”,由美國賀柏考林司出版社于二十
      多年前出版。她最新的一本書是“插畫散步”,一本自傳體的插畫專書,由台
      灣的和英出版社出版。

      Illustrators always struggle a lot when starting a new book,
      especially when publishers give a lot of lead ways instead of
      guidelines. So Benrei has developed a few rules of thumb whenever
      she gets an assignment. From "Read the story as if you were
      watching a movie" to "choose your style" and later to "dummy-
      making," Benrei would like to share her 20+ years of experience when
      illustrating for a new PB. Whether you are a newbie or an expert in
      illustration. welcome in and let's brainstorm for our picture books!

      Bio:
      Benrei Huang is the third child among four in her family. Being the
      naughty one and a bookworm in the same time, she made her career a
      children’s book illustrator so that she could be playful and doing
      something with books in the same time all her life.


      She went to National Taiwan Normal University to study fine art and
      later set her foot in the Big Apple to study illustration at School
      of Visual Art master program where she learned the profession of
      book illustration. She has been working as a children’s book
      illustrator ever since and living with her family, her sculptor
      husband who draws when he thinks, her son who draws even in his
      dreams, and a guinea pig who can’t draw, along with a long list of
      books she has illustrated.


      Benrei Huang’s first book was What Can A Giant Do? published by
      Harper Collins twenty plus years ago. Her latest one is A Stroll
      with Illustration, a memoir, published by Heryin publisher in
      Taiwan.
