      Many librarians do what I do--take down extensive lists of books to order for their libraries and then place orders for them when we're back at school. With rolled carts not being allowed on the exhibit floor, it's tough to purchase and carry books. Dede

      Did you get that post I sent with TLA conference statistics from the past
      three years?

      This year was only about 200 more than Houston, not enough to make a really
      huge difference, so maybe you had a better booth location.

      All the authors I know were complaining about there being no lines at the
      Author Area, except of course for the really big names like Sharon Creech, or
      those popular YA authors who write about dragons or vampires or chick-lit. It's
      a mystery what was causing this lack of traffic. I wonder if it is because
      TLA now allows authors to sell & sign at the publishers' booths. Maybe
      librarians prefer to get their books at the booths.
